Why did you decide to become an attorney?
I decided to become an attorney because the legal profession offered me an opportunity to be independent, intellectually stimulated, and allowed me to interact with people from all walks of life. As a high school student in southeastern Ohio, I enjoyed debate, and received mentoring from a local judge who encouraged me to enter into the legal profession. I was motivated by the judge’s description of the legal profession as being grounded in logic, reason, and human nature. Looking back, I could not have made a better choice. I truly enjoy providing a valuable service to the individuals I work with. I take their issues to heart, and strive to advocate on their behalf, as I would for myself or a member of my family.
What experiences (work and personal) help you to be a better attorney?
I firmly believe that it is the experience a person gains throughout life that makes him/her unique and a distinctive value to society. I am no exception. In addition to practicing law for over thirty years, my personal experience growing up in southeastern Ohio and raising five children, as well as my professional experience as an officer in the Ohio National Guard, as an administrative assistant to United States Congressman Clarence Miller, and as a board member on the ADAMH Board of Franklin County have all influenced who I am today, and have made me a better attorney. Through these experiences, I have had the benefit of seeing the world from many different perspectives. I have been shaped into a service-oriented, trustworthy, and non-judgmental attorney, which allows me to better understand my clients and provide them with legal counsel on a personalized and tailored basis.

Describe your personal interests and hobbies.
First and foremost, I enjoy spending time with my family. I have a beautiful wife and five incredible, independent children. I value every minute I am with them. Watching each of my children evolve into their own person is incredibly rewarding. On an individual basis, my personal interests and hobbies involve characteristics which closely parallel my career as an attorney. I enjoy activities which are competitive, energetic, and aggressive. I participate in activities ranging from running a marathon, to racing cars, to playing competitive ice hockey.
